County Democrats Hold Meet and Greet

HENDERSONVILLE—The Democratic Party in Henderson County is alive and well—that's the message local Democrats and some Democratic candidates conveyed to the party faithful Sunday at a Henderson County Democratic Party Picnic in Hendersonville's Patton Park.
More than 150 people showed up to "meet and greet" several Democratic and non-partisan candidates, in addition to chowing down on hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and baked beans at the event. Among the hopefuls courting voters were Janet Cowell, N.C. treasurer candidate; Paul Goebel, 117 District N.C. House candidate; Tom Thomas, 113 District N.C. Cheri Beasley has worked all sides of the courtroom. A former public defender in Cumberland County, she also worked briefly in the Wake County District Attorney's office. A Democrat, she was appointed to the District Court in Cumberland County by Gov. Jim Hunt in 1999. In 2008, she announced she would run for the N.C. Court of Appeals against incumbent Judge Doug McCullough.

FAYETTEVILLE—Cumberland County District Court Judge Cheri Beasley filed Monday for the NC Court of Appeals seat held by J. Douglas McCullough.
Judge Beasley officially launched her statewide campaign on January 9th and is excited to continue her travels across the state "I am both energized and humbled with the opportunity to work every day to garner support from every voter in North Carolina."

FAYETTEVILLE—Cumberland County District Court Judge Cheri Beasley announced today she is entering the race for NC Court of Appeals for the seat held by J. Douglas McCullough.
"I'm looking forward to my continued travels across the state meeting and talking with voters. I believe the courts belong to the people so it’s a pleasure working every day to garner their support and their confidence," said Judge Beasley. Judge Beasley has received support across the state, including an endorsement from the North Carolina Association of Educators.
