County Democrats Hold Meet and Greet

HENDERSONVILLE—The Democratic Party in Henderson County is alive and well—that's the message local Democrats and some Democratic candidates conveyed to the party faithful Sunday at a Henderson County Democratic Party Picnic in Hendersonville's Patton Park.

More than 150 people showed up to "meet and greet" several Democratic and non-partisan candidates, in addition to chowing down on hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and baked beans at the event. Beasley to run for Court of Appeals

Cheri Beasley has worked all sides of the courtroom. A former public defender in Cumberland County, she also worked briefly in the Wake County District Attorney's office. A Democrat, she was appointed to the District Court in Cumberland County by Gov. Jim Hunt in 1999. In 2008, she announced she would run for the N.C. Court of Appeals against incumbent Judge Dough McCullough.
