As a judge I know the importance of my work and feel blessed with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my community. My strongest duty is to ensure that justice is truly accessible to all people. As a District Court Judge, I treat every individual in my courtroom with dignity and respect. I uphold the law without jeopardizing fair and prudent judgement. Justice always dictates my actions in each case. I look forward to bringing that same standard of fairness, ethics and justice to the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

HENDERSONVILLE—The Democratic Party in Henderson County is alive and well—that's the message local Democrats and some Democratic candidates conveyed to the party faithful Sunday at a Henderson County Democratic Party Picnic in Hendersonville's Patton Park.
More than 150 people showed up to "meet and greet" several Democratic and non-partisan candidates, in addition to chowing down on hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and baked beans at the event. Among the hopefuls courting voters were Janet Cowell, N.C. treasurer candidate; Paul Goebel, 117 District N.C. House candidate; Tom Thomas, 113 District N.C. Cheri Beasley has worked all sides of the courtroom. A former public defender in Cumberland County, she also worked briefly in the Wake County District Attorney's office. A Democrat, she was appointed to the District Court in Cumberland County by Gov. Jim Hunt in 1999. In 2008, she announced she would run for the N.C. Court of Appeals against incumbent Judge Dough McCullough.
